2022 Don Leading Cardio Drumming
Bob is a certified personal trainer with over 30 years of experience, and has been certified by Rock Steady Boxing. He works with Parkinson clients to boost their morale and build confidence with exercise routines designed to combat the 22 symptoms of Parkinson's. Don Is the Marketing Director and Vice Chairman for NWI Parkinson's, and is the Instructor for the Cardio Drumming Class. He sings in the MC Messiah Chorus in Michigan City and participated in the Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus for 7 years under Chorus Director Nancy Menk.

 Light Full Body Workout

THURSDAYS   10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

This is a series of workout exercises with a variety of equipment such as light weights, bands, treadmill, elliptical machine, rebounder, balancing balls and boxing.  All exercises can be modified for each individual, no matter your level of ability.

       Bob will work alongside you to allow you to work to your best ability, letting you stretch those muscles and have fun at the same time! 

An additional note on Bob: 
He has his own business as a Personal Trainer, and can come to your house to help you with any additional personal training. If interested, discuss this with him before or after class on
MONDAYS or THURSDAYS.

CARDIO DRUMMING

This one of our latest exercise classes utilizing 65 cm inflated exercise balls sitting on top of 17 gallon utility buckets with drumsticks. You do not need to have rhythm to participate in this fun class. However, you will be able to play along with the music! Dress comfortably and bring your “WIPEOUT” mentality! We will supply the rest. 
By the way, we have the video of 8 class members on stage at our November 3rd Style Show. Our guest drummers were Paul Burghardt, Maxine Ettema, Sherrie & Mario Gonzalez, Dolores, (“The Hammer”), Siwy, Joe & Terri Schulte and Anna Urosevich. We also have the video from our last year’s Symposium with 16 drummers!

Yoga Classes for Parkinsons

No yoga experience is needed. Anyone can easily participate.
Feel free to use a chair if needed for modification.

Chair Yoga:
Tuesdays:   9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. with Joanna Sypudt
Mat Yoga:
Thursdays: 12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m. with Joanna Sypudt

 Joanne is an experienced certified yoga instructor. She has led classes in various locations and teaches people to become yoga instructors at Purdue University.  

Dance for PD

Wednesdays & Fridays   12:00 Noon – 1:00 p.m.

Meet your instructor:

Louise Boyd

Louise trained as a professional dance instructor in London,
specializing in older adult fitness. She studied at the prestigious
Julliard School in New York with David Leventhal,
Director of “Dance for PD,” where she earned her certification.

Come comfortably dressed for 60 minutes of movement, music, and fun.  
Caregivers are welcome.
No dance experience is required.

 

Boxing for PD

Wednesdays   5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Have some fun as well as challenging exercise, with Lori Plesha’s boxing class. It  is geared to help you push yourself for better mobility, strength, coordination, balance, agility, posture, and cognitive skills.

Lori is a Certified Personal Trainer with additional certification in teaching
Boxing For PD. She also has her own personal training business,
39 TO LIFE, specializing in improving the quality of life for Parkinson’s,
